After our one-month summer vacation, we arrived in Arviat, Nunavut for our second year on August 4. Having been back in town for about two months now, it does seem a fitting time to reflect on the new school year, the differences, a new school, and the feeling of being back.
Arviat is the proud home of a brand new school building, which has been added to the current high school, to create a two-building junior high and high school. We are in the painstakingly long process of choosing a name for the two buidlings. The old building was named Qitiqliq High School (QHS), named for a local Elder. With the addition of a new building, it was decided to name the school Qitiqliq School, with each building having its own name. Today is the grand opening of the new school (although we've been in session for six weeks), and so far, no names. Sigh.
I will continue writing feelings of being back as I can.
Take care.
Here, I will endeavour to record some of my musicological thinking that doesn't make it to the class room and term papers (along with some that does)...

First Test
This is simply a test of my blog, and my first run at it. I will try to make future posts far more interesting, on a variety of topics, and experiment with writing styles and genres to see how it goes. Enjoy!
